Can you prepare, produce and present a range of complex cold larder, hot kitchen, patisserie and desserts? Can you teach a novice how to make a great cappuccino? As part of our ongoing commitment to inspiring students and communities to succeed UCOL’s is seeking a highly motivated lecturer, or suitably qualified professional to support delivery of our Trades Academy /U-Skills NZC in Cookery Level 3 and Café Skills Level 2. You will also support delivery of our Cookery Level 4 programme as required.

This is a permanent 40 hours/week position. The successful candidate will be a qualified chef with a relevant industry qualification (e.g. minimum NZ Certificate Cookery Level 4 or equivalent) with hands-on experience in hospitality/barista, stock control and ordering; training and supporting staff within a senior role

It would be a strong advantage if you hold the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), the NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT) or equivalent and unit 4098 workbased assessor, however these are not a requirement.

It is expected you will teach across both our Manawatū and Whanganui Campuses. We require you to be hands on, facilitating one on one learning, mentoring, motivating and working with students both individually and as a group, so your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be required. As well as working with a dynamic team you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager with all delivery resources and practical assessments fully developed.

Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to complete New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014.

Skills & Experience

 - Relevant industry qualification (a qualified chef with minimum NZ Certificate Cookery Level 4 or equivalent)

· Experience in hospitality/barista, stock control and ordering 

· Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or minimum 5 years industry experience; with training and supporting staff within a senior role.

· An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and/or unit 4098 workbased assessor or be working toward these is desirable.
