About the role  

The kaupapa of this role is to lead and manage a team of nursing academic and technical staff teaching across UCOL’s three nursing delivery sites: Whanganui, Manawatū and Wairarapa. UCOL has been delivering nurse education programmes for over 30 years, and this is an exciting time to join our nurse education team. We are experiencing very high ākonga (student) demand and are currently developing a contemporary and innovative curriculum to meet the needs of Aotearoa New Zealand’s diverse health consumers.

This is a key position within our nursing management team, which is responsible for providing leadership to support UCOL’s nurse education programmes (primarily the Bachelor of Nursing). The management team supports a high standard of teaching and learning, enhancement of ākonga (student) experience and outcomes, and the maintenance of our programmes’ excellent reputation. 

The successful applicant will be responsible for working collaboratively to ensure the quality assurance and continuous improvement of our nurse education programmes to meet the needs of ākonga, UCOL, employers, iwi, industry and to meet accreditation requirements. This role provides the opportunity to both contribute to, and lead, future development of our programmes.

This role can be based at either our Palmerston North or Whanganui campus.

Position requirements

Applicants for this position must have a New Zealand residency or a valid New Zealand work visa. A current New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) is also required. Applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment checks; including completing a New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014.
